Jewellery Care & Repairs

Jewellery isn’t just something you wear—it’s a little piece of magic that becomes part of your story. Whether it’s a gift from someone special, a reminder of a beautiful moment, or just a piece that makes you feel like your best, sparkliest self, it deserves a little care to keep it shining for years to come. ✨

Complimentary Repairs

Life happens. Sometimes jewellery takes a bit of an unexpected adventure—catches on a sweater, takes a tumble, or meets a little too much enthusiasm from a curious pet. If your piece breaks due to a manufacturing fault within three months of purchase, we’ll repair it free of charge—no stress, no worries, just a little extra TLC.

For anything outside of that, repairs will be charged based on the time and materials needed, and we’ll always let you know the cost before we begin.

A Few Important Notes:

  • Some jewellery components aren’t handmade, which means they might not always be repairable. If that’s the case, we’ll chat with you about possible options.
  • Chains are delicate by nature—a little like the fine threads of a spider’s web. They need to be handled with care, and while we can’t be responsible for broken chains, we’re always happy to quote for a replacement if needed.
  • No jewellery is indestructible (if only!). While we craft every piece with care and precision, we can’t be held responsible for breakages, lost stones, or lost jewellery unless it’s a fault in the making.

How Metals Age & Tarnish

Metals are a lot like us—they change a little over time, developing depth, character, and a story of their own. Tarnishing is completely normal and, with the right care, easy to manage. Here’s what to expect from your jewellery as the years go by:

💛 9ct, 14ct & 18ct Gold – Pure gold (24K) never tarnishes, but it’s too soft to wear every day. That’s why 9ct, 14ct, and 18ct gold are mixed with metals like silver, copper, and zinc to make them stronger. Over time, these alloys can darken slightly as they react with air, moisture, and the natural oils on your skin. If you notice your gold looking a little warmer in tone, a quick polish will bring back its bright, golden glow.

🤍 White Gold & Rhodium Plating – Here’s a little secret: white gold isn’t naturally bright white! It has a soft pale yellow or greyish tint because it’s mixed with palladium—a beautiful, rare metal that gives it strength. To achieve that crisp, icy white finish, white gold is coated in rhodium plating. This protects and enhances the colour, but like all good things, it wears down over time—especially on rings that see lots of daily love. If your white gold starts looking a little dull or slightly yellow, it’s time for a quick rhodium re-plating to bring back that fresh, bright shine.

Sterling Silver – Silver has a mischievous side—it loves to react with air, forming a darker layer called oxidation. This is totally normal and actually helps protect the metal underneath! Some people adore the antique effect, but if you prefer a high-shine finish, a quick polish or a silver dip will bring back its brilliance in no time.

🧡 Copper & Brass – Jewellery with copper or brass elements will naturally develop a patina over time—a soft, rich layer that gives it a vintage, well-loved look. Some people love this aged effect, while others prefer their jewellery looking fresh and bright. If you’re in the latter camp, regular cleaning will do the trick.

Keeping Your Jewellery Sparkling

Your jewellery is made to be worn and loved, but a little care goes a long way in keeping it looking its best. Here’s how to give it the love it deserves:

🌙 Store it right – Keep jewellery in a sealed bag or jewellery box when not wearing it to slow down tarnishing and protect delicate pieces from scratches.

💦 Keep it dry – Water, sweat, and humidity speed up tarnishing. Take jewellery off before swimming, showering, or exercising to keep it looking fresher for longer.

Polish regularly – A soft jewellery cloth or gentle cleaner will instantly revive metals that have dulled over time.

💡 Avoid chemicals – Perfume, lotions, and cleaning products can react with metals. Apply them first, let them dry, and then put on your jewellery.

🤍 Re-plate white gold when needed – If your white gold jewellery starts losing its shine, a quick rhodium re-plating will restore its bright, dazzling finish.
