The nitty-gritty details
How do I find out my ring size?
The best and most reliable way to discover your true ring size is to visit your nearest local jeweller and have them measure it for you! It’s usually a quick, free service that takes just a few minutes. At Indigo Finery, I use the standard UK ring size chart, which runs from A to Z and includes half sizes, so you can be confident your piece will fit beautifully.
Shipping & Delivery
Please note that I am unable to ship to P.O. boxes. All pieces are made to order, lovingly, locally forged and hand-finished, and I do my very best to create your jewellery as quickly as possible, while maintaining the highest quality standards. Manufacturing begins once payment has been received and reflected in my account, and orders are not processed over weekends or public holidays.
Because each piece is made especially for you, please allow 7–28 working days for your order to be processed, forged, and finished before dispatch. Once your jewellery is complete and carefully packaged, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number, so you can follow its journey right to your doorstep!
Courier delivery times (after dispatch):
Cape Town: Same or next working day (excluding weekends)
National city centres: 1–2 working days (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth [Gqeberha], East London, Polokwane, Nelspruit, Kimberley, George)
Regional areas, small towns, farms, rural locations: 3–5 working days
Please note that these timelines are based on courier estimates. Once your parcel is with the courier, it is out of my hands, but I'm always happy to assist if anything seems delayed.
IMPORTANT SHIPPING NOTES
Courier fees are non-refundable.
If your piece needs to be returned or resized, all courier costs (to and from Indigo Finery) are the responsibility of the client.
I currently only courier within South Africa.
I don't send packages after 4PM on Wednesdays. So if your piece is complete by 4:30PM on a Wednesday, your package will only be sent the following Monday. This is to try and prevent your piece from sitting in a warehouse over the weekend or for longer than needed.
Taking care of your pieces
Jewellery, like anything precious in life, needs a little care from time to time. It’s a good idea to have your pieces checked to ensure your stones are secure. Prevention is always better than replacing a stone due to a loose or bent claw. Whether it’s a repair, a re-size, or a fresh rhodium finish, I’m always here to help keep your treasures sparkling.
Can I collect my order?
I am based within the Helderberg area and can organise a time for you to come and pick up your piece, but this will have to be discussed and arranged beforehand. The traveling costs will be up to you.
Can I have an old piece remodelled?
Yes, of course!
I absolutely love breathing new life into inherited or sentimental pieces, there’s something so special about transforming a treasure from the past into something that feels entirely you. If you have a piece that holds meaning but doesn’t quite match your style, we can redesign it into something truly unique and personal.
Here’s how it works: I’ll help arrange a secure courier to collect your piece and deliver it safely to me. Once it’s in my hands, I’ll carefully assess what we’re working with; stones, metals and all. Together, we’ll dream up your new design, whether that means reusing your existing stones, adding new ones, or blending both.
If the original metal can be remelted, wonderful! If not, you’ll receive a metal credit based on its weight, which can be used towards new gold or silver for your fresh creation. After finalising your design, manufacturing begins, and your stone(s) will be professionally set before I give your finished piece one final polish and send it safely back to you.
Any unused stones or metal are always returned to you, because every sparkle tells part of your story.
Returns & Exchanges
While it is super important to me that you absolutely love your piece, because it is made to order, I do not accept any exchanges or refunds.
With that being said, if you are 100% unhappy with your piece, please inform me of this within 3 days of delivery, as well as the reason for your unhappiness - depending on reason and timeline, we can discuss a way forward for a possible exchange.
If there is a manufacturing fault with your piece, I will happily speak to you about it and offer you either, an exchange for a different piece or store credit.
If I agree to an exchange, all courier costs will be your responsibility and I will need the original piece to be returned unworn, undamaged and in the original packaging.
Damages will be covered up to one month after delivery, if there are any issues due to the manufacturing of the piece.
Broken chains will not be exchanged or fixed. Chains are extremely delicate and need to be handled with care when being worn or stored.
Can I have a bespoke piece made?
Absolutely! I create each piece with care and attention, so as long as you have a design, concept, or idea, I can bring it to life.
The bespoke process is outlined on my Bespoke Design Process page, and includes:
Reach Out – tell me your vision.
Design Recall Mission – we discuss inspiration and ideas.
Sketching – I create a rough design for your approval.
Stone Choices – select the gems that will make your piece sparkle.
Production – once the design and 75% deposit are confirmed, your piece is lovingly made.
Delivery – after full payment is received, I organise courier delivery to your address (courier costs are your responsibility).
Once the design is finalised, I provide a quote. Manufacturing begins only after the deposit has been received and reflected in my account. Final payment must be cleared before the piece is dispatched.
Reusing your gold
There’s a quiet magic in old gold; it carries a memory, history, and heart. A band worn by your grandfather or a chain passed from your mother is more than metal; it’s a story. While I lovingly create modern heirlooms at Indigo Finery, my workshop isn’t set up to safely reuse vintage gold. Older pieces often contain unknown alloys, which can cause cracks or structural flaws if reworked. To ensure every piece lasts a lifetime, I use fresh, professionally alloyed metals from trusted local suppliers.
But your heirloom gold can still play a meaningful role. Through my gold credit programme, you can send your old gold to my Helderberg studio (courier costs are your responsibility). I send it to a local refinery, where it’s tested for purity and weight. You’ll receive a credit based on the gold’s carat, weight, and the live gold price on the day, less a 20% refinery fee. This credit is then applied to your new piece, honouring the value of your heirloom, even if it isn’t used in the design.
Old gold becomes a silent contributor to your new treasure, a bridge between chapters. While stones can be reused directly, metals are refined and credited for safety and longevity. Secure couriering is essential, and I guide you through every step to ensure your heirloom arrives safely.
Let your heirloom gold help fund a sparkling new chapter, one shimmering detail at a time.
Reusing Your Heirloom Stones
I love giving family stones a new chapter.
Here’s how it works:
Can you reuse my old stones?
Yes! Diamonds and most gemstones can be re-set into a new piece, keeping their story alive. Even small stones can become rings, pendants, or charms, and heirlooms can be blended with new gems for a unique design.
How does the process work?
Send me photos of your current piece and any ideas you have. I’ll create a rough sketch to make sure it’s exactly what you’re imagining. Once approved, I’ll provide a quote. After you accept, we’ll arrange for your piece to reach Indigo Finery safely (all courier costs are your responsibility).
Is it safe to courier my stones?
Yes – as long as you use a trusted, insured courier. I’ll guide you to ensure your treasures arrive safely.
Do you inspect the stones?
Always. I check for wear, cracks, or fragility before re-setting and will discuss any concerns with you.
Will unused stones or metal be returned?
Yes – anything not used in your final design is returned for safekeeping or future projects.
All courier costs will be your responsibility.
Ring resizing
Even the loveliest rings sometimes need a second fitting; fingers can be beautifully unpredictable. Warm weather can cause them to swell slightly, while cold shrinks them. Pregnancy, postpartum changes, weight fluctuations, hormonal shifts, or even lifestyle changes can subtly alter ring size over time. I can resize most rings, but some delicate or engraved designs are less tolerant of frequent adjustments. Indigo offers one complimentary resizing for solid 925 sterling silver rings, with courier costs for sending to and from the studio at your cost & responsibility. Couriering is safe when using trackable, insured services, and your ring is treated with care throughout the process.
During pregnancy, fingers can swell due to increased blood volume and water retention. Postpartum, sizes often return to normal within 6–12 months, though not always exactly the same. Weight loss, fitness changes, and other lifestyle factors can also subtly shift ring size.
If your Indigo treasure feels too loose or slightly snug, don’t worry, we’re here to make it just right. Think of the resizing as a short visit back to the studio, where your ring is returned perfectly poised for the next chapter of your story.
Courier costs for sending to and from the studio are at your cost & responsibility.
